The Department of Human Services and Early Learning in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval.
The Department of Human Services and Early Learning encompasses three programs: Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies (with a diploma exit), Bachelor of Applied Human Service Administration, and the Special Needs Educational Assistant certificate program. The Department focuses on preparing students to become educators of children and youth in a variety of early learning and educational settings or skills for human service management and leadership positions.
This Assistant Professor position is a teaching position in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies. Individuals with demonstrated teaching skills and knowledge of early learning theory, policy, curriculum, and practice will be considered. If you have familiarity with Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, and a proven commitment to promoting quality early childhood education, diversity, inclusion, social justice and ethical early learning practice and leadership, your experience is an asset. Knowledge and skill in course design and development is an additional asset.
Individuals with a doctoral degree or have ABD status in Early Childhood Education or related field (i.e., Education, Human Ecology, Child and Youth Care, Pedagogy) is required. Direct experience working with children and families in early learning and childcare programs is an asset. The successful candidate will be selected on their ability to demonstrate their commitment to undergraduate teaching, potential for an ongoing research program and a willingness to engage in service to the program, university, and community.
