Opportunity

MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that prepares graduates to lead and succeed in nursing practice, and beyond. The Faculty of Nursing is organized into 5 departments. Courses delivered within each of these departments are affiliated with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and other continuing education credentials and learning experiences. This position is being sought for the Department of Nursing Foundations with a specific focus on teaching courses for our psychiatric nursing programs. Faculty members in the Department of Nursing Foundations are experts in their discipline-specific fields and roles, incorporating core knowledge about the scope of practice and standards of nursing.

The Department of Nursing Foundations in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval. This position requires licensure with the College and Association of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). This position may include teaching in Ponoka, Edmonton and online. Travel may be required and candidates will need to meet the requisite skills and abilities of the nursing profession; teaching across classroom, lab and clinical settings. Teaching in clinical settings may also entail additional certifications and requirements.

You will hold a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, doctoral preparation preferred, with psychiatric nursing education and experience. You will have expertise in psychiatric nursing, current experience in mental health settings, and a prior record of undergraduate teaching in nursing. A developed, or developing, program of related research or scholarly activity, is preferred. You are passionate about building future nursing leaders and have curriculum development experience in health related education. You are a collaborative team member and demonstrate a strong commitment to service within your role.
