Opportunity

The Department of International Business, Marketing, Strategy, & Law, in the MacEwan School of Business, invites applications for a full-time tenure track probationary appointment in Legal Studies in Business at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing 1 July 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All positions are subject to budgetary approval. The Department will consider applicants with demonstrated potential to publish and present their research, while achieving teaching excellence in the classroom. An active research program in in areas relevant to legal studies in business would be an advantage.

The School of Business has over 71 full-time faculty members, over half of whom have terminal degrees. The Department of International Business, Marketing, Strategy, & Law has 19 faculty members, and offers three Bachelor of Commerce majors: International Business, Marketing, and Legal Studies in Business in addition to the Paralegal diploma program.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • LL.B. or JD, and an advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., LL.M.), 

  • degree(s) that qualify for membership in the Alberta Law Society,

  • evidence of outstanding teaching skills, and a demonstrated primary commitment to undergraduate teaching,

  • an ongoing program of academic research,

  • knowledge of Canadian and Alberta law,

  • experience in the practice of law with such experience being an asset in teaching practical courses in the Paralegal Studies program and in the Legal Studies in Business major,

  • Indigenous law knowledge / experience is desirable,

  • a willingness to discharge service obligations in the administration of the Paralegal program and the Legal Studies in Business major.
