Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking two (2) experienced Admission Specialists for full-time continuing opportunities with our Office of the University Registrar. The successful candidates will be a part of a student-oriented admissions team committed to service excellence. You will be accountable for the accurate and efficient processing of admission applications and transfer credit to MacEwan University's undergraduate programs (i.e., degree, diploma, and certificate).

You will work collaboratively with the Admissions Team to evaluate, analyze, and interpret applicants' admission documents and academic history for admission eligibility and determination of transfer credit. The position also provides direction to applicants, agents, and university faculty and staff regarding admissions and transfer credit policies and procedures.

Main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate, analyze, and interpret academic credentials/transcripts (secondary and post-secondary) to determine admissibility and transfer credit.

  • Authenticate and verify academic transcripts, credentials, and other admission documents (e.g., English language proficiency test results and course outlines/syllabi) and determine whether such documentation is unofficial or official.

  • Provide direction to applicants/students, recruitment, future student and academic advisors, and other university faculty and staff regarding admission and transfer credit policies, processes, program and course requirements, deposit fees and withdrawal. This includes the ability to clearly and accurately explain the admission statuses or decisions of individual applications.

  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work successfully with technology and student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft-Campus Solutions)

  • Ability to perform complex tasks using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Ability to organize time and manage multiple priorities with limited supervision

  • Critical thinking, conflict resolution & collaborative decision-making skills

  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures

  • Ability to process large volumes of work and meet deadlines

  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment

  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply diverse Canadian and International educational systems against established admission and transfer credit criteria

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence

Qualifications

  • Requires an undergraduate bachelor’s degree

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an administrative environment in program evaluation

  • Experience with evaluating Canadian or international education to determine admission eligibility and transfer credit, and knowledge of PeopleSoft - Campus Solutions are considered strong assets
