MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that prepares graduates to lead and succeed in nursing practice, and beyond. As a place-based institution, faculty are involved in crafting engaged learning environments that help students achieve their full potential through innovative learning modalities that emphasize the importance of connection. The Faculty of Nursing is organized into five departments. Courses delivered within each of these departments are affiliated with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and other continuing education credentials and learning experiences.
The Department of Health Systems and Sustainability offers courses for which experts in the fields of leadership, education and systems thinking build awareness of key concepts that are woven into successful nursing practice. Faculty members in the Department of Human Health and Science are experts in the foundational knowledge upon which the nursing profession is based, understanding how science informs practice across nursing disciplines.
The Department of Health Systems and Sustainability and the Department of Human Health and Science in the Faculty of Nursing invite applications for one full-time tenure-track appointment in each of the respective departments at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval. These positions require unencumbered licensure with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Additional Licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta is welcomed. These positions will focus on teaching in classroom settings, however, lab and clinical instruction may be included. Travel may be required, and candidates need to meet the requisite skills and abilities of the nursing profession(s). Teaching in clinical settings may also have additional certification and vaccination requirements.
You will hold a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, doctoral preparation preferred. You will have expertise in an area of nursing practice, and a successful record of, or additional education in, teaching in nursing. A developed, or developing, program of related research or scholarly activity is preferred. You are passionate about excellence in undergraduate nursing education, building future nursing leaders and have notable curriculum development experience in nursing or health-related education. You are a collaborative team member and demonstrate a strong commitment to service within your role. You are curious and able to collaborate with others to envision and implement an innovative approach to undergraduate nursing education.
