Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking for a full-time non-recurring Senior Business Analyst (Process Analyst/Designer) for our Finance Department. You will work with our team to re-design key to optimize and improve performance. To support the process improvement initiatives, you will also evaluate technology that could add value to existing operations and investigates other processes for the technology that is available. This position has considerable latitude to determine solutions to problems within a continuously changing technological environment.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leading business process redesign to identify opportunities for process improvement including facilitating workshops, conducting interviews, document analysis, and task and workflow analysis

  • Analyzing processes to identify opportunities to leverage technology to eliminate redundant tasks, and/or minimize duplication of effort by conducting research and analysis and consults with ERP team to understand the nature, effect, and potential of system enhancements and/or integration of new technologies changes

  • Supporting the sponsoring business unit in the preparation and presentation of the business case or assessment document to the appropriate governance committee

  • Performing analysis and facilitates stakeholder consensus to create documented, agreed upon functional and non-functional business requirements and specifications

  • Being responsible for the creation of accurate business process and workflow documentation and obtaining stakeholder support and senior management's approval

  • Managing relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up to date on project/initiative results

  • Working with Change management to identify change risks and support the development of a change management and communication plan

  • Identifying, prioritizing, and developing action plans for process improvement implementation where technology is part of solutions responsible to support operational readiness activities

 This is an 18-month full-time non-recurring term.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of applications such as MS Visio, MS Office, Peoplesoft Financials

  • Working knowledge of financial services, particularly procurement and expense management would be considered an asset

  • Demonstrated systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to transforming information from multiple sources into excellent document outcomes such as: business requirements and process descriptions, user case scenarios, workflow analysis and design blueprints

  • Experience with process mapping and redesign, and IT application implementation projects

  • Applied ability to lead, conduct effective interviews, facilitate meetings, workshops, and surveys

  • Enterprise analysis/business architecture would be an asset

  • Strong relationship building skills across all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of User centric design principles & approaches

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts

  • Possess an understanding of potential organizational exposures in terms of internal controls, security, privacy, and legal compliance

  • Strong awareness of appropriate usage for IT to achieve business and organizational objectives

  • Possess an extensive knowledge of business and understands the interdependencies of business processes and information systems

  • Has ability to understands, explain and present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels, in a persuasive and convincing manner

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree Computing Science, Business Administration, or another related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst is required
