Opportunity

MacEwan University seeks applicants for a full-time continuing IT Service Transition Analyst opportunity with our IT, Infrastructure and Operations Department. The IT Service Transition Analyst is accountable to the Director, IT Infrastructure and Operations for activities representing the interests of the business and IT in dealings with all stakeholders, groups, and technology providers to implement integrated technology services.

As a senior analyst, you will provide analysis, coordination, quality control, and planning to IT-related application and service development and implementation activities. You will create optimized support processes for new or updated services transitioning from a project to production. You will ensure that IT service deployments address business and IT functional requirements, measurable outcomes, use best practices and satisfy IT security standards and guidelines.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the following techniques and technologies:

    • Proficient and current in industry best practices for analysis and process modeling techniques

    • Business and systems analysis roles in the system development life cycle (including documentation, software components, testing, and infrastructure requirements)

    • Knowledge of industry-standard methodologies (e.g., ITIL, Agile, and DevOps)

    • Server virtualization technology and infrastructure

    • Real-time infrastructure monitoring including device hardware, operating systems, resource utilization and capacity, application, and environmental conditions

    • Basic IP networking and services including DNS, DHCP, and NTP

    • Server operating system including one or more of the following: Microsoft Windows, UNIX/Linux, and OSX.

    • Potential organizational exposures in internal controls, security, privacy, and legal compliance

    • Strong understanding and working knowledge of web applications, including Apache Tomcat, Windows IIS, Java, ASP, WebLogic

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts

  • Analytical problem-solving skills

  • Good business and technical writing skills

  • Work effectively and maintain composure in pressure situations during major IT service emergencies

  • Learn and adapt quickly to new technology and challenges; analyze successes and failures for clues to improvements; demonstrate innovation and creativity to develop solutions

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills in orchestrating multiple ongoing activities regularly

  • Understand, explain, and present complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in a persuasive manner

  • Manage change effectively

  • Self-motivated to independently resolve complex problems using current job knowledge, research data, and available resources

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree Computing Science, Business Administration, or another related field

  • Equivalents and related work experience may be considered.

  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working as a business or IT analyst with business application systems/services, operations, or development, preferably in a large multi-service, multi-architecture environment

  • A background of working in an environment with extensive IT application and service integration is preferred.

  • Experience in dealing effectively with technical and non-technical clients.
