Organizational Development Consultant

MacEwan University is searching for an Organizational Development Consultant to join our Organizational Design & Development (OD&D) team in Human Resources. As an Organizational Development (OD) Consultant, you will be responsible for the planning, design, development, delivery, and evaluation of organizational development solutions for a variety of leadership, cultural, and organizational effectiveness programs and services at MacEwan University, with a focus on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).
Working collaboratively across the broader Human Resources team, you will provide consulting, coaching, and facilitation services to MacEwan clients and stakeholders and work to foster an organizational culture that promotes teaching greatness, flexibility, versatility, growth, and increased effectiveness in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Within Human Resources, acts as the subject matter expert and influencer in providing EDI expertise and advice to assist leaders in promoting and integrating the cultivation of a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace
In alignment with MacEwan's strategic framework, designs and delivers Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) programming and associated resources
Acts as a resource and trusted advisor in providing OD solutions to institutional clients, project teams, and committees
Participates in Organizational Reviews as part of the OD&D team, including providing input and recommendations on a variety of OD topics and contributing to project activities and report writing
Designs and facilitates employee experiences that strengthen organizational culture and foster the equity and wellbeing of MacEwan's employees, clients, and communities
Delivers a variety of training courses and programs on behalf of Human Resources and facilitates various sessions and workshops.
Orients groups and group work toward the achievement of shared goals by facilitating group processes and intervening when appropriate.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
Knowledgeable about the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion with a focus on systemic change initiatives
Demonstrated consulting, coaching, and group facilitation skills, including group process and dynamics
Strategic thinking and innovation; demonstrated systems thinker with the ability to advise on inclusive strategies for organizational change, transformation, and alignment
Ability to lead change and effectively assess risk, readiness, and resistance; works to create an inclusive, non-threatening environment to support productive debate, robust expression of ideas, group dialogue, and decision making
Client focus: ability to develop effective partnerships; influencing skills (direct and indirect)
Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision, to work in ambiguous and complex situations, as well as to adapt to an ever-changing environment
Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain relationships with senior leadership, operational managers, a wide variety of staff, union representatives, as well as team members
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills.
Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Commerce, or a related discipline plus minimum of 5 years of related experience in the development and delivery of organizational development programs, policies, resources, and services. Equivalencies will be considered.
Demonstrated experience applying current knowledge of theory, practice and applicable legislative frameworks related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the design, development, and/or delivery of EDI programs is required.
Experience delivering training courses and facilitating group sessions is required.
Demonstrated experience managing projects and initiatives and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders is required.
Lived experience working with, or as a member of, an equity deserving group is an asset.
Experience working in a unionized, public sector and/or post-secondary environment is preferred.
Qualification in psychometric instruments (e.g., MBTI, EQ-I, etc.) is considered an asset.
Proficiency utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to utilize an HRIS system (such as PeopleSoft) is an asset.
