Residents are curious to know what the residence experience will be like. We are implementing a few changes that will ensure the residence is a safe place for students to stay.
We are reducing the number of available suites in the building – only bachelor and two-bedroom suites will be offered this fall/winter.
Study and social lounges, the game room and theatre room will remain closed during the term. Closing these spaces will allow compliance with government guidelines for numbers of people in gatherings.
Re-organizing the Residence lobby furniture to promote physical distancing.
Setting a maximum capacity for elevators to ensure effective physical distancing.
Enhancing disinfection and cleaning procedures of high touch-point areas and surfaces.
Installing hand sanitizing stations in public areas.
International students will be assisted by the Residence, MacEwan International and the Students' Association while they complete their isolation requirements during the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.
Selection and assigning of roommates will be suspended until we get further direction from Alberta Health Services on easing physical distancing protocols. All residents will be assigned individual suites, either a bachelor or 2-bedroom suite with their own bathroom and kitchenette.
Residence Life programming and events will be hosted online or in smaller groups as outlined in provincial Restrictions to Gatherings guidelines.
Residents are not permitted to have visitors in the residence.
Residents will be assigned move-in dates and times to stagger move-in traffic in the residence and comply with physical distancing guidelines.
A maximum of two (2) people will be permitted to assist the resident during move in.
We will be updating this page as more information becomes available.
