Dr. Russ Powell’s first taste of psychology didn’t resonate with him. In fact, the then-commerce-student thought his introductory psych course was a bit ridiculous.
“I remember watching this film showing operant conditioning in a pigeon, and I thought it was the most incredibly useless thing I’d ever seen,” he laughs. “But flash forward years later, and there I am sitting in a lab thinking, ‘This is great stuff!’”
So how exactly did that unimpressed commerce student become an associate professor of psychology?
