Carrie Hunting

In May 2018, Carrie Hunting became the Director, Office of the Provost, responsible for operationalizing the work of the Office of the Provost. As such she is responsible for providing strategic leadership and influencing the Academic operations of the institution through governance processes, the development and interpretation of collective agreements, policies language and processes, and by directing the processes and collaborative efforts of the numerous academic and support service units as they implement and support the work of the Provost. She is the main representative and spokesperson on the Provost’s behalf.

Carrie joined MacEwan in September 2014 as the first Director, Faculty Relations, in the Office of the Provost. As the Director of Faculty Relations, Carrie was the lead contact with the Faculty Association on employment matters and in advancing strategic direction for faculty relations as set by the Provost. She worked closely with the Provost, the Deans and the HR staff to create a strong, positive faculty labour relations environment, worked directly with the Associate Vice-President, HR, the University’s HR team and other university administrative services staff in the development of policy, procedures and other administrative requirements relative to faculty relations. She was the lead in the maintenance of effective and mutually respectful relations with the Faculty Association and executive committee members, advancing the University’s strategic labour relations goals with respect to faculty. 

Prior to coming to MacEwan Carrie served as the Academic Freedom and Tenure and Policy Officer working with the Faculty Association at the University of Waterloo, and prior to that as the Director of the Office of the Provost and Faculty Relations at the University of Windsor. She brought over two decades of experience with her having worked with faculty, faculty associations, academic administrators and university administrative services staff in support of faculty and involving employment and labour relations matters. Carrie earned her BA in economics and her MBA at the University of Windsor.
