Dean, School of Business

Elsie Elford

Elsie was appointed Dean of the School of Business on July 1, 2002. As Dean, she is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of the School of Business including faculty and staff recruitment, faculty and staff development, workload negotiations and approvals (including the fostering of scholarly activity), curriculum development, program evaluations, enrolment management, student success strategies, financial operations and facilities management (as it relates to the school).

As a member of the Academic Leadership Team, Elsie provides review and input to University, Board, and Government initiatives; reviews and aligns strategic directions of the school with the university strategic plan; and reviews and analyzes issues related to academic governance. Elsie has led the development and accreditation of the Bachelor of Commerce degree program at MacEwan and has been instrumental in the creation of a Business Advisory Council and Academic Advisory Council for the school in 2007.
