Decomposition/Розкладання: An Evening with Lyuba Yakimchuk

The Kule Chair in Ukrainian Studies Speaker Series presents an evening with Lyuba Yakimchuk, a Ukrainian poet, screenwriter and journalist who is the author of several full-length poetry collections, including Like FASHION and Apricots of Donbas, and the film script for The Word Building. She has received many literary awards, including the International Slavic Poetic Award, the Bohdan-Ihor Antonych Prize and the Smoloskyp Prize, three of Ukraine’s most prestigious awards for young poets. Her poems have appeared in journals in Ukraine, the U.S,, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belarus.

Ms. Yakimchuk was born in Pervomaisk, Luhansk oblast, Ukraine, and currently lives in Kyiv. In 2015, Kyiv’s New Time magazine listed Yakimchuk among the 100 most influential people of culture in Ukraine.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
