This symposium aims at exploring and promoting reconciliation by connecting Canadian Indigenous scholars with international scholars concerned with the effects of reading literature, writing poetry, storytelling, and watching film on mental well-being and resilience. It will involve scholarly presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and a poster presentation session.
This symposium is a collaboration between Katherine Sinclair (Faculty of Arts and Science), Keestin O’Dell (kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre), Kevin Hood (Faculty of Health and Community Studies) and Paul Sopcak (Faculty of Arts and Science, Student Affairs).
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather in Treaty Six Territory is the traditional gathering place for many Indigenous people. We honour and respect the history, languages, ceremonies and culture of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit who call this territory home.
