How can we recognize and respond to sexual violence? This workshop will provide participants with skills and tools to intervene in incidents of sexual violence, or in situations where it seems like sexual violence might occur. We will discuss the realities of sexual violence, address different barriers to active intervention, and empower individuals to safely intervene when witnessing unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
This workshop is free and open to all. We do recommend that participants have a basic knowledge of the realities of sexual violence and a solid understanding of sexual consent, as the workshop will review but not go in-depth with these topics. We recommend the following resources as pre-reading: • ConsentEd Website • ‘What is Sexual Coercion’ (Love Is Respect)
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather in Treaty Six Territory is the traditional gathering place for many Indigenous people. We honour and respect the history, languages, ceremonies and culture of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit who call this territory home.
