Ukrainian Postcolonial Gothic: Oksana Zabuzhko's Monstrous Feminine

March 28, 2019

Join professor Dr. Maryna Romanets from the University of Northern British Columbia as she discusses Gothic “hauntings” in novellas by Oksana Zabuzhko, often provocatively termed as the enfant terrible and the femme fatale of contemporary Ukrainian literature. While plummeting readers into narratives of horror, violence, mystery, and eroticism, Zabuzhko devises textual and political strategies of empowerment and enunciation.

This lecture is part of the Kule Chair in Ukrainian Studies Speaker Series, hosted by Dr. Lana Krys.
