You are invited to a screening of a short film - City Embers - on youth homelessness that was produced, written and dramatized in collaboration youth who access services at the Boyle Street Community Services Youth Unit. In September of 2015, a small group of Boyle Street Community Services - Youth Unit members came together to share their experiences of homelessness in Edmonton. From this, began a two-month journey of sharing and creative writing to produce a dramatic short film which reflected the lived experiences of young people who have found themselves homeless, addicted or depressed. The story is weaved from separate lives and experiences, with threads of common struggles, pains, challenges and accomplishments. City Embers unravels the complex and multi layered realities of three disparaged young adults whose lives are intertwined through circumstances beyond their control.
Youth from Boyle Street Community Services will participate in a panel discussion after the screening of the movie. Watch the trailer.
