Inbound Students

If your primary language is not English, you must present proof of English language proficiency with your application unless you are applying from one of the following universities:

• University of New England, Australia

• Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland

• Abo Akademi, Finland

• Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland

• Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

• HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

• Linkoping University, Sweden

• Umea University, Sweden

• Keele University, United Kingdom

• Staffordshire University, United Kingdom

• University for the Creative Arts, United Kingdom

• University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

• University of Wales Trinity St. David, United Kingdom

• Bangor University, United Kingdom

If you are applying from a university not on the list above to an academic program (all MacEwan programs except ESL), you must present one of the following or equivalent:

• IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component)

• TOEFL iBT 86 (with a minimum score of 21 in all four sections)

If you are applying to MacEwan's EAL/ESL program, you must present one of the following or equivalent:

• TOEFL iBT (internet-based)
  Minimum score of 39

• IELTS
  Score of 4.0 (with no skill below 3.5)

• TOEIC (I and SP)
  Score of 405

• EIKEN Pre-2

TOEFL ITP will not be accepted for proof of English language proficiency. Students will take a placement test upon arrival at the MacEwan University.

You must take between three and five courses per term while you study at MacEwan.

Select 10 courses from the list of courses available to exchange students and rank them in order of preference on your application form. We will use your lower ranked alternates if a preferred course has filled or is unsuitable based on your academic preparation.

Available Courses

Photocopy the photo page of your valid passport and include it with your application.

Include transcripts from all universities you have attended.

If you are planning to take Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCSC) courses, you are required to submit two writing samples of approximately 500 words each. The samples cannot be edited by anyone other than you.

You will not be considered for enrollment in BCSC courses until the writing samples have been submitted.

Demo performances

If you are applying to MacEwan's Music program, you must submit two demo performances, each representing a different musical style or genre. The performances should be between three and five minutes. Provide YouTube links to the demos in your application.
