New CFAC Week 62: Welcome back
After a reduced construction schedule over the holidays, work on the new Centre for Arts and Culture is back in full swing. Clark Builders—the company handling construction on the project—decided to welcome the new year by launching a campaign to revisit and reinforce safety standards and practices with their crew.
The Welcome Back Campaign is designed to help crew members stay diligent as they come back from the holidays, and renew their focus on preventing injury, property damage and environmental damage as they work. It includes refreshers on the importance of personal protective equipment, task hazard analysis, and incident prevention and reporting. Creating a safe construction environment is an important part of beginning CFAC’s legacy on the right foot. Prioritizing the safety of the crew and the quality of the building ensures that the CFAC experience will be a positive one, from groundbreaking to grand opening and beyond.
Work also continued on drywall boarding on the east side of the buildings, and ceiling taping and mudding is underway in the Recital Hall. Bridge steel installation has been completed on levels three and four of the north side atrium, with decking set to begin shortly.
- Average manpower for the week was 224 workers
- 13,645 m3 of concrete has been poured to date.
