New CFAC Week 108: Garage doors
Door installation continues into another week at the new Centre for Arts and Culture. Last week, it was the vestibule entrance to the main atrium that received doors; this week, crews turned their focus to something a little more heavy duty, adding doors to some less visible but equally important parts of the building.
Garage-style overhead doors were installed in the parkade entrance as well as the loading bay and garbage pickup area. It’s only a matter of months before people, cars and shipping and maintenance vehicles will be frequenting the new CFAC, so it was important to get the doors in place, not only to protect the interior from cold and wet weather, but also to provide security to these areas. The doors were supplied by Creative Door, a local company that specializes in overhead doors, whom MacEwan University had previously worked with for other parkade doors on campus
This past week, crews also worked on the floor system in the recital hall and millwork installation in the proscenium theatre. Architectural inspections were completed on the third floor of the east side of the building.
- Average manpower for the week was 235 workers.
