Minister of Advanced Education visits MacEwan

This week, Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education, Demetrios Nicolaides, paid a visit to MacEwan University. During a tour of City Centre Campus, he got a firsthand look at MacEwan’s immersive learning facilities, student service areas, and spaces that bring campus and community together.

Here are some of the highlights of Minister Nicolaides’ tour.

  Minister Nicolaides tours MacEwan’s City Centre campus on September 6 with Myrna Khan, vice-president, University Relations; Carolyn Graham, chair, Board of Governors; and John McGrath, acting president.   Speaking with university leadership, deans, faculty and staff about academics, student services and campus operations.   Fons Chafe, assistant professor in the Police and Investigations program, gives a demonstration of MacEwan’s hands-on approach to learning in one of the program’s labs.   Dr. Wanda Costen, dean of the School of Business and Dr. Leo Wong, assistant professor in the School of Business, discuss the university’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.   Wrapping up a tour of Roundhouse, the university's co-working space, with a friendly game of Pong.   Taking in the energy of Allard Hall, home to MacEwan’s creative arts programs.
