Songs, stunts and stage traps... Pippin pops!

November 25, 2019 | Arts & Culture

MacEwan University’s production of Pippin brought everything you'd expect to see under the big top onto the Triffo Theatre's stage.

The first show of the 2019/20 theatre season, Pippin is a Tony Award-winning musical about a mysterious troupe of travelling players who tells the story of Pippin, a young man on a journey in search of fulfillment, who discovers happiness lies not in the extraordinary but in the ordinary moments of every day. Special for this production, Theatre Arts students worked with performers from Firefly Theatre and Circus to develop the stunts for the show. It was also the first time Theatre Production students worked with the Triffo’s stage traps — hidden openings in the floor for performers and crew members to create some surprising effects.
