A look back at the year in theatre

April 6, 2020 | Arts & Culture

Every year, our theatre arts and production students blow us away with a season of shows that range from sombre dramas to laugh-out-loud comedies to toe-tapping musicals. This season, though cut short, was no different.

Pippin gave us stunning circus stunts and brilliantly colourful sets. The Crucible made commanding use of the innovative Theatre Lab space, with its intimate jury-box seating and dramatic lighting. And though Legally Blonde The Musical had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our students were working hard on set design and rehearsals to bring the perky musical to life. We know it would have been an amazing show.

Here’s a look at our abbreviated 2019/20 theatre season.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was cancelled before it had a chance to hit the stage. We look forward to the time when we can all gather again in Allard Hall's theatres to celebrate the hard work of our talented students. Until next season, everyone.
