Annual Mad Hatter’s Gala celebrates milestone anniversary by returning to Wonderland
Dust off your hat and polish your pocket watch—you don’t want to be late for this very important date. On April 25, the Mad Hatter’s Gala celebrates three decades of raising funds for student scholarships and bursaries with a return to the theme of Alice in Wonderland.
This year’s honourary Mad Hatters, John and Cathie Chomiak, attended the first-ever gala and have been connected to the university ever since. John, president and CEO of Hemisphere Engineering, and his company even worked on City Centre Campus.
“We were involved as the engineers on the very first MacEwan building, and at that time I met Dr. MacEwan,” says John. “I gained great respect for him.”
With their granddaughter currently in her second year at MacEwan, the Chomiaks understand the value of student scholarships and bursaries.
“I have met many youngsters over the years who have attended MacEwan and who have said they enjoyed it so much more than a typical university because of the type of student experience they get here,” says John. “It is an amazing institution!”
Tickets for the event are still available. More information about the event is online.
