Announcing Curbside Convocation
June 17, 2020 | Campus Life
We are so proud of this spring’s graduating class, and everything you’ve achieved throughout your time here at MacEwan University.
Cancelling our Spring Convocation ceremonies was a very difficult decision to make, but a necessary one in the interest of safety. We understand your disappointment because we feel it too. MacEwan faculty members and staff look forward to formally celebrating our graduates' successes every year at convocation.
Though we know nothing can replace the experience of donning a cap and gown, crossing the stage at the Winspear Centre, and receiving your parchment in front of your classmates, we want to announce what we’ll be doing instead to celebrate your graduation.
Welcome to Curbside Convocation
At the end of June, we’ll be mailing a Curbside Convocation box to each member of the Spring Class of 2020. This package will contain everything you need to celebrate your graduation from home, including:
- Your parchment
- Mortarboard and tassel
- Honour cord and Indigenous stole (if applicable)
- A gift to welcome you to the alumni family
- A couple of fun items to help you announce your status as a MacEwan grad
When you receive your Curbside Convocation box, we hope you take photos and videos of your celebration and share them with us! You can post on social media using the hashtag #MacEwanCurbsideConvocation, or send us a DM on any of our channels.
Social Media Celebration
On July 15, the MacEwan community will come together across all of our social channels to celebrate you and your achievements! Tune into our feeds for stories, messages, videos and photos to mark your big moment.
We hope you join in by sending messages to your fellow grads with the hashtags #MacEwanCurbsideConvocation or #MacEwanGrad. And don't forget to send us your Curbside Convocation photos and videos so we can share those too! We want to make sure this is a day to celebrate with the classmates who have been with you the whole way.
