(Mostly) free events, all month long

October 4, 2021 | Campus Life
The fall term is well underway, and with it, a full slate of activities to keep you informed and entertained.

With a mix of virtual and in-person activities (all of which will follow appropriate safety measures), you’ll have no shortage of things to do.

With midterms just around the corner, you might be experiencing some stress. So now is as good a time as ever to learn some of the fundamentals of mental health by signing up for the Inquiring Mind four-part virtual workshop, which begins on October 5. Once you complete the series, you’ll receive a certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Sexual Violence Awareness Week (October 4 to 8) features events and opportunities to create a sexually healthy, positive and respectful campus culture. If you’d like to expand your knowledge on the subject even further, feminist and activist Julie Lalonde is hosting a presentation on bystander intervention on October 27.

And for those with a community mind and an entrepreneurial spirit, the Enlightened Economy Summit is bringing together experts to host sessions on topics like innovation for social impact and equitable economic recovery. You might also want to check out Make It Happen YEG Innovation Day, part of Startup Week. These events are free for students!

That’s a lot of heavy learning so far … why not lighten things up with some fun physical activity? Sign up for the October 30 volleyball tournament. The deadline to register is October 19.

And finally, if you’re a prospective student who is interested in MacEwan, don’t forget to check out our regular information sessions for domestic and international students, listed throughout our events feed. And mark your calendars for next month’s Virtual Open House!
