Roundhouse grand opening launches innovative co-working space

Roundhouse, an innovative new co-working space at MacEwan University focused on social change, hosted its grand opening on May 31. Located in Allard Hall, Roundhouse features offices, break-out rooms, a marketplace for local vendors and several eco-friendly features (including worms to compost your post-lunch garbage).

But Roundhouse is more than a unique place to set up shop – it’s designed to be a creative environment for like-minded individuals who want to make our city, and the world, a better place.

“Roundhouse will offer programs and workshops that bring changemakers together with students, faculty, staff and alumni,” says Leo Wong, the founding director of the university’s Social Innovation Institute. “As a downtown university, we focus on creating meaningful relationships with our neighbours to improve the economic and social vibrancy of our city, as well as being an environmental steward.”

A space designed specifically for changemakers, Roundhouse is located on the main floor of Allard Hall. Along with its many programs and services, Roundhouse also provides opportunities for local vendors to share goods and services that benefit people and the planet.

Roundhouse includes a wide variety of spaces for changemakers to develop their ideas – from hot desks and private offices to flexible meeting rooms and collaborative spaces.
