Where in the world … Chile

September 9, 2019 | Arts & Culture, Society

This August, Dr. Marco Katz, who has taught as a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Arts and Science, visited the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile to deliver the plenary presentation at the university’s Third Colloquium in Applied Linguistics and Language Education.

In addition to his presentation, he conducted two workshops for Chilean teachers of English. "Professors in Chile teach an increasingly diverse group of students from Haiti and other countries," Marco says. "So they expressed a great deal of interest in learning about how the Department of English at MacEwan University works with international students."

Marco’s presentation inspired an animated Q&A and comment session, which, in turn, provided him with new motivation and fresh perspectives in advance of teaching again in January, 2020. "As always, when I set out to teach, I end up learning a lot," he says.

In our “Where in the World” series, students and faculty members share highlights from this year’s summer experiences around the world.
