Using myStudentSystem

Using myStudentSystem might look a little daunting the first time you try it. Follow the guide to tour your Student Center and walk through the process to enrol, drop or swap a class, join a wait-list or check a deadline.

Network ID and password

Your Network ID and a temporary password were sent to the email account listed on your application to MacEwan University. You will have been prompted to change your password the first time you logged in. You will need your Network ID and password to log in to myStudentSystem.

If you have lost your Network ID, you will need to visit Technology Support in person. Please bring picture ID. If you need to reset your password, use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page of

Log in

Access myStudentSystem through

  • Log in to using your Network ID and password

  • Launch myStudentSystem from the menu on the left

Enrol/add classes

You can begin enrolling in classes using myStudentSystem on or after your enrolment date.

Re-applying after an absence

Students returning to the university after an absence of 12 or more consecutive months must re-apply to their program of choice through ApplyAlberta.

If you re-apply, your application will be evaluated according to the admission requirements valid at the time of re-application. If you are re-applying to a competitive program, you will be competing with the new group of applicants.


Join a wait-list

If you don't see open spaces in the class you want, you may be able to add yourself to a wait-list if the class has one. In order to see classes with a wait-list, uncheck the "Show Open Classes Only" box when you perform a search. If a spot opens on a wait-list, the first qualified student is automatically enrolled in the class and a notification of the change to registration goes out via email within 24 hours.

Update your contact information

To get the most out of the app’s functionality, you should update your contact info and communication preferences so that you can get text message notifications. Use the desktop version of myStudentSystem to make these updates.

  • First, add your cell phone number to your contact info in your myStudentSystem Student Centre.

  • Then go into the security tab in myStudentSystem and choose to get your notifications by text message

Go mobile

There’s a lot you can do in the myStudentSystem mobile app including viewing your class schedule, searching for courses, adding and dropping courses, checking your admission status and viewing your completed grades and classes.

There are still some things you’ll have to go to the myStudentSystem site for, including paying your fees (although you can see your fee summaries and financial aid in the app), swapping classes, requesting transcripts and applying for graduation.
