(Alberta) 6-118H, City Centre Campus10700 – 104 AvenueEdmonton, AB780-633-3885 Biography Dr. Ross Shaw has experience working in marine biology, specifically fish disease and coral reef systems. He has worked with scientists from both coasts and maintains active connections with researchers at a various biological stations around the world. Our oceans are under increasing threat, and Dr. Shaw is passionate about learning what can be done to preserve these areas. Currently, he is involved in a large-scale project to bring a public aquarium to the greater Edmonton area. Available to supervise senior students' independent study. Expertise Teaching and Research Interests Dr. Shaw's teaching focuses on cellular biology and marine biology. He teaches a mixture of introductory and upper-level courses. He believes strongly in cultivating student interests. His research crosses between the scholarship of teaching and learning and the direct biology of coral reef systems. Currently, he is researching the health of captive coral grown on site in MacEwan's marine reef tanks.
