One of the strongest new voices in contemporary English Canadian poetry, Nyla Matuk is the author of Stranger (Signal Editions, 2016) and Sumptuary Laws (Vehicule Press, 2012). She has been praised for her "keen-eyed, phrase-making brilliance" (Times Literary Supplement) and modernist sensibility. Her poems have appeared recently in The New Yorker, Poetry, PN Review, The Walrus, Prelude, and the New Poetries VI anthology (published by Carcanet Press in 2015). She received a Yaddo fellowship in 2014 and is currently the 2018 Mordecai Richler Writer-in-Residence at McGill University, Montreal.
