Biography

Dr. Haines is an ecologist whose passion is using science education and research to engage others in the natural world. She teaches first-year to upper-level courses in biology, ecology and conservation biology. Her research primarily focuses on using citizen science to monitor biodiversity in Alberta using the citizen science app NatureLynx in collaboration with the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute. The objective is to enable Albertans to be active participants in tracking biodiversity in the province using the app. She is also interested in understanding ecology and evolution by studying life history and behaviour in red squirrels.
