Tiina Hohn grew up in Finland and graduated with Masters of Science degree in 1981 from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland. This degree included a minor in education and a second major in physics. Education has always been her main interest—how to teach mathematics in all levels of education. After moving to Canada in 1982 Tiina started teaching first-year math courses at the University of Alberta to engineers, science students and education students.

As MacEwan University grew, the need for mathematics instructors provided Tiina with the opportunity for a new environment to teach university transfer courses and later program courses. Math fairs and teaching workshops for in-service teachers have always been her favorite activity.
