The theory and skills of nursing care of the childbearing/childrearing family are explored and applied within the laboratory and simulation settings. Assessment and other nursing skills required to provide care to this specialized population are identified, compared and demonstrated. Nursing knowledge and skills required to provide care to the childbearing/childrearing family are integrated in developing nursing care plans for common and complex health issues. Communication skills specific to the childbearing/childrearing family and within the health care team are implemented.
