Pediatric Nursing Lab

PBNS 328

The theory and skills of pediatric nursing are explored and applied within laboratory and simulation settings. Assessment and other nursing skills required to provide care to this specialized population are identified, compared and demonstrated. Pediatric nursing knowledge and skills are integrated in developing nursing care plans for common and complex childhood health disorders. Developmental, physiological and family centered care concepts are identified and applied throughout. Communication skills specific to pediatric patients, their families and the health care team are examined and implemented. Lab activities reflect the competencies for entry to practice for the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
