MacEwan University’s Music program presents popular music sessions with Russell Broom

From the studio to the stage with award-winning producer and guitarist Russell Broom

About the sessions

During this week, Russell Broom will conduct studio sessions on recording and mixing popular music, as well as host ensemble workshops, a guitar masterclass, a songwriting workshop and a public concert with a Q&A. Broom will also discuss his philosophy, background and approach to pop music. He will demonstrate his signature approach to sound, and the art of creating effective hooks in pop, rock and country music. Broom brings the perspectives of both performer and engineer/producer.

About Russell Broom

Russell Broom is a Calgary-based musician/producer/engineer/songwriter who has had an exceptional career working with international artists, touring the world and winning numerous awards for his work. He is best known for his long association with Jann Arden as guitarist, musical director, co-songwriter and producer, for which he received the 2002 Juno Award as Songwriter of the Year. He was recently nominated as WCMA Producer and Engineer of the Year (2017).
