You are passionate about design, construction, innovation. You read a stage direction and imagine its potential. You are curious about the behind-the-scenes magic of theatre. Find your way to MacEwan University's Theatre Production program. Our stages are the place for you.

Set carpenters, prop builders and lighting technicians— these are some of the innovative minds essential to constructing a believable reality onstage. In this two-year program, you learn about all aspects of theatre production, including props and set construction, lighting, sound and video, costumes and scenic painting. In collaboration with designers and directors, you build, experiment, invent and craft—and then watch the results of your hard work come to fruition. 

Guided by instructors with substantial experience in the field, you learn about the challenges, excitement and rewards of a production season.

Get your hands dirty

Calling all artisans, craftspeople, technicians and innovators. It's time for real-world experience. During your practicums, you are involved in all aspects of a play's production.

Join us for some of the city's finest musical theatre in the Triffo Theatre in Allard Hall. Be inspired by first-year student performances in the intimate black box theatre.


A special guest 

For seven years, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson has been reading stories to students across the city through a series of videos. But this is the first year that MacEwan University's theatre and journalism students have been an integral part of the process.
