The opportunity to integrate theory and practice is a key component of the MacEwan Early Learning and Child Care program. Students spend 200 hours each term placed in a child care program where they develop and practice their skills in a mentored environment.
These fully supervised field placements take place in a variety of settings in the greater Edmonton area:
Child care centres
Preschools
Family support programs
School-age care centers
Headstart and early intervention programs
Family day homes
Kindergartens
Women’s shelters
In your two field placements per year you will typically spend eight hours a day, five days a week for five weeks in your placement.
International students
International students must have a valid co-op work permit by the beginning of the term.
