Four philosophical perspectives provide a foundation for the department and the curriculum we develop. Critical social theory, humanism, logical positivism, and phenomenology support social and political action and an orientation towards growth, learning and individual accountability. The department encourages a spirit of trust, respect, and compassion in our graduates.
