The Faculty of Nursing is comprised of five departments that are committed to building healthy communities and advocating for the wellness of the people within them.

Department of Health Systems & Sustainability

Kathleen (Kathy) Miller, Chair

The focus of this department is on the health systems and sustainability. Courses in this department support our learners to become leaders and effectively transition from student to graduate nurse. Through partnerships with academic and industry leaders we are expanding interdisciplinary education and international opportunities for faculty and students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs.

Department of Human Health & Sciences

Faculty members in the Department of Human Health & Sciences are experts in their fields of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and nursing. Courses delivered by this department are provided to students in the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs.

Department of Nursing Foundations

Brian Parker, Chair

Faculty in the Department of Nursing Foundations bring together discipline-specific foundational nursing courses for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs.

These foundational nursing concepts are further refined through more advanced courses that build upon each students understanding of the role, scope and application of standards of practice for nursing and psychiatric nursing. Faculty are committed to delivering learner-centred teaching and advancing student engaged research.

Department of Nursing Practice

Tanya Heuver, Chair

Faculty members in the Department of Nursing Practice are experts in nursing leadership, education and research. They are committed to excellence in professional practice and passionate about nurturing students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing programs. This interdisciplinary team facilitates student integration and application of foundational knowledge and diverse skills in the classroom, seminar, lab, and clinical practice settings.
