JumpStart is a three-hour band clinic specifically designed for beginning band students who have little or no experience playing a band instrument, and is highly regarded as an integral first step into a school band program.
In JumpStart, students learn the base skills of musicianship and technique, including:
- embouchure formation
- sound production
- instrument tuning
- proper posture
- efficient breathing
JumpStart clinicians are qualified educators, active performers, and leading woodwind and brass professionals in the Edmonton community. Many of our clinicians play with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and other professional ensembles, and are faculty members at the Conservatory of Music.
Clinics are normally scheduled in the first month of the new band year (September/October), with clinics running either 9:30 am – 12:30 pm or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Alberta College Campus. Dates are determined at the time of booking.
Fee: $30 per student (GST included)
