The Conservatory of Music offers group theory and history classes to help students develop a deeper understanding of music and improve musical literacy. Learn to understand the fundamentals of music including scales and modes, rhythm, melody, harmony, form, structure, and expression. We offer music theory classes in various subjects including ear training classes to prepare students for aural examinations, history classes that cover all eras of classical music, and jazz and classical theory classes to prepare students for university auditions and private performances.

Students preparing for Royal Conservatory, Conservatory Canada or Associated Board examinations can find classes that cover the specific topics relevant to their examinations. From basic theory and counterpoint to advanced music rudiments, learn the building blocks of music at any level to help you broaden your understanding of the language of music.
