Final exams are done and year-end projects and papers are graded. We celebrated research and discovery, and shared big ideas with everyone from junior high students to industry professionals.

Bent River Records artist spotlight
Another successful year for Bent River Records wrapped up with the Artist Spotlight event, a celebration of the label’s 2019 album releases.
PSYC 400 demos
Over 50 junior high students attended a mini-conference in the Kule Lecture Theatre, where Dr. Rodney Schmaltz’s PSYC 400 class gave demonstrations based on their honours theses.
210 School of Business student volunteers helped file 942 tax returns — 565 for students and 377 for community members. Kudos to the volunteers!
Student Research Day
At Student Research Day 2019, more than 200 students shared their presentations, performances and poster and project displays, and received feedback and answered questions about their work and ideas.
MacEwan Book of the Year contest
Congratulations to Lauren Aisenstat — the design student won the creative portion of the MacEwan Book of the Year contest with her illustrative treatment of author Michael Crummey’s Sweetland. See the other contest winners at MacEwan.ca/MacEwanBook.
Computer science students at EPL
On April 24, computer science students demoed fun, engaging touch-table matching games they built for the Edmonton Public Library as part of their Introduction to Software Engineering course.
Fine Art Grad Show
The Fine Art Grad Show showcased what students worked on during their two years in the program, and the highlights of their creative journey.
Fine art workshops
Inspired by what they learned in the Fine Art program, students led drop-in activities in the Mitchell Art Gallery as part of the Fine Art Grad Show, including a zine-making workshop, an open studio sketching day, and drop-in embroidery circle.
Pitch Your Business competition
The mini-pitch event allowed students an opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of business experts, and was hosted by the MacEwan University Social Innovation Institute, fostering a culture of social innovation and social entrepreneurship in Edmonton.
Model UN and Ukraine
Executive members of the Model UN Club and faculty advisor, Dr. Chaldeans Mensah are mentoring and training faculty and students from two universities in Ukraine. Using proven training techniques the club has developed over its 25-year history, the MacEwan students are sharing their expertise in using diplomatic strategies to build consensus.
Design Studies Portfolio Show
The Design Studies Portfolio Show introduced this year’s graduating class to the Edmonton design community in an exhibition that showcased their exemplary work.
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather in Treaty Six Territory is the traditional gathering place for many Indigenous people. We honour and respect the history, languages, ceremonies and culture of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit who call this territory home.
