Web Design and Development

Professional Development Certificate


Explore key skills in web design and development and stay current with changes in the field. Gain an understanding of best practices and acquire an in-depth knowledge of popular web design and development tools. Through hands-on learning, you will create, design and implement layouts. Simple but important actions such as editing, displaying and exporting images will be covered, as well as how to write web languages of HTML, Javascript, jQuery and PHP.

Discover the basics of online usability (UX), and what a CMS system is and how to use it (i.e. WordPress). See what is involved in project and content management, workflow, analytics, interactivity, customization and mobile friendly sites.

Web Design and Development courses feature small class sizes and are taught in fully equipped Macintosh labs.

Learning and Career Growth

These courses will help you:
• Develop skills in the creation of web page layout and site planning for optimal site structure, resolution of navigation, interactivity and usability
• Create strategies for customizing a client-based website and managing web content and design
• Understand the value of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and use web analytics to extract business intelligence and web metrics

Duration and Delivery

This certificate consists of 5 courses, 4-24 hours each in length, for a total of 88 instructional hours. This certificate may be completed in as little as six months. Some courses may be offered online or face to face at Allard Hall, City Centre Campus. Each individual course will have more information on course delivery.

Getting Started

There are no admission requirements for this program. You can simply register for a course any time. However, basic computer and keyboarding skills are required in order to benefit from these software-based courses.

Fees

Course fees range from $195-$495 and the total cost to complete the full certificate is $2,035 based on the current course fees. Fees are listed with individual courses and do not include supplies unless otherwise indicated. Fees are subject to change.
