Social Innovation Catalyze Internship


Get hands-on experience working with an emerging social enterprise—while also getting paid.

The Catalyze Internship connects early-stage Edmonton social enterprises with MacEwan students and/or recent graduates to help move these ventures forward. Interns will work on deliverable-based projects with their social enterprise from September 1 to December 31, 2019 (~15-20 hours/week). In addition to hands-on experience and learning, interns also receive a stipend of $5,000, one-on-one mentoring and access to co-working space at Roundhouse.

Who can apply

Current MacEwan students and recent graduates (in the last eight months) can apply. Interns may be from any discipline or program.

How to participate

August 2019

Review the Fall 2019 internship opportunities. If you see an opportunity of interest, complete the Catalyze Application Form.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted the week of August 19, 2019. Note that candidates may be asked to participate in a phone interview. Interns will be selected and matched to their opportunity by Monday, August 26, 2019.

September–December 2019

Meet with your social enterprise to assess their needs and outline the deliverables you will work on with them. Work on deliverables with your social enterprise ~15-20 hours per week.

All interns will also:

  • Engage in monthly Mentoring Roundtables with a local social enterprise expert

  • Have one-on-one checkins

  • Participate in social innovation learning opportunities

The Catalyze Internship is a capacity-building initiative offered by the MacEwan University Social Innovation Institute, in partnership with Innovate Calgary and Roundhouse.
