Understanding university language
Terms like “prerequisite,” “corequisite” or “academic standing” can be confusing at first. Your advisor can explain what each one means for you and how they affect your course choices, degree planning and progress toward graduation.
Accessing tools and resources
Advisors help you use tools like your Academic Program Progress Report (APPR) in myStudentSystem to plan courses, track your progress and stay organized. They also connect you with other university resources that support your academic goals.
Interpreting policies and procedures
From adding and dropping courses to academic standing and appeals, university policies support your academic success. Your advisor helps you understand and follow the policies and correct procedures so that you can avoid surprises and stay on track.
Prepare for your meeting
Coming prepared for your advising appointment helps you get the answers you need quickly and makes the most of your time with us. Start by reviewing our program pages for deadlines and requirements.
