Community Engaged Scholarship Development Grant
This internal grant supports MacEwan’s community engagement and supplements the Community Engaged Scholarship (CES) Grant.
This planning grant assists researchers in consulting and building relationships and partnerships with community leaders, community members, community partners or community-based organizations. The goal is to co-create and submit a funding proposal within 12 months of receipt. The funding is, therefore, intended to support research and creative activities that do not meet the criteria of other sources of internal funding. Activities for which other funding is available are not eligible to access the CES Development Grant.
The CES Grant already supports community-engaged research projects; however, this specific grant, the CES Development Grant, is intended to provide resources to facilitate these initial engagement activities.
Note that the primary aim of this fund is to support activities that will lead to the development of a concrete research project. Therefore, applicants must demonstrate how the engagement activities will contribute to the creation of a scholarly project, and the expectation is that within 12 months of receiving the CES Development Grant, the faculty and community team will apply for a research grant (internal or external) to conduct the project. All funds must be expended within 12 months from the time a successful grant application is awarded. *
No extensions are permitted for this special development grant.
* An applicant may hold one award per academic year (September 1 – August 31) AND only one award at a time, regardless of the activity type or duration of previous awards, and cannot be awarded more than one CES Development Grant to support engagement with a specific identified partner.
