Our group supports Black scholars, students and communities in addressing the health and well-being of Black individuals and groups. Through collaborative research, our work informs policies, enhances teaching pedagogies and fosters meaningful change.

Our focus

Our research is guided by the understanding that there are many systems of knowing. Therefore, we use an intersectional approach that is critical to better understanding the issues that affect Black residents and immigrants in Canada. Topics of focus include:

  • health and mental health
  • education
  • culture and socioeconomics
  • policy development

We are committed to sharing our findings through conferences, workshops, publications and research symposiums—both on campus and in the wider community. We provide research expertise and mentorship to emerging scholars, students, community partners and stakeholders.
