Achieving financial stability—for yourself, your business, your clients or the organization you are working for—that’s the aim of the finance minor. You can apply what you learn to achieving personal, financial success, managing your own business or supporting local or international organizations to make sound financial choices.

Why take this minor?

In the finance minor, you learn to apply economic principles to financial markets. You develop a broad set of analytical skills while focusing on key finance areas that influence an organization’s current and future business decisions. In this minor, you take senior-level courses in finance, giving you a deeper understanding of this business discipline.

A finance minor prepares you to contribute to the success of an organization and helps you develop and manage your personal wealth.
Dr. Eloisa Perez, associate professor

What to expect

Introductory courses in accounting, finance and management lay the groundwork for this minor. Then, in the more advanced courses, you build your analytical and critical thinking skills and apply what you’ve learned to progressively more complex financial scenarios that consider individual, local and global financial issues. You learn how to ensure personal wealth and to consider the worlds of entrepreneurism and new business ventures. You extend your knowledge further to include international financial markets and sustainable finance in the global arena.

The theory behind financial decision making is balanced with practical applications in real-life scenarios.
