Curious about sustainable business practices, organizational behaviour, information systems or economics? In the Honours program, you apply the analytical and critical thinking skills you develop in your coursework to a research topic of your choice.
Marketing, sales, accounting, human resources, logistics—we prepare you to contribute new knowledge to an area of business management that interests you.
What to expect
You usually enter an Honours program at the end of your second year, already equipped with a solid understanding of the principles that shape general business decisions. Then, in senior-level courses, you take a closer look at business management topics such as marketing, sales, accounting, human resources and logistics. You practice time management, conflict resolution and communication skills in hands-on assignments and real-world projects.
This program teaches you how to conduct in-depth research and develop analytical skills that help you make objective, data-driven decisions. Learn to identify gaps in scholarly inquiry, formulate research questions, collect and analyze data, and present theoretical findings. You have the opportunity to showcase your research at MacEwan’s Student Research Day, at conferences or even through publication.
Working closely with a faculty member and other students, you create and present a proposal for your Honours thesis, which is approved by your Honours supervisor. At the end of the program, you present your thesis to School of Business faculty and students.

Further study
An Honours program is excellent preparation for graduate school.
MacEwan students attend graduate and professional programs across Canada and around the world. If you are interested in obtaining a master’s degree or PhD, or if you want to attend a professional program such as law, a career development specialist can answer your questions and guide you through the application process. Then, at our annual Graduate School Fair, you can meet graduate program advisors from a number of universities.
