DEPARTMENT of MATHEMATICS and STATISTICS

Mathematics Minor

Mathematical reasoning, research, problem-solving—a minor in mathematics equips you with skills that complement any arts, science or business degree. If you are pursuing a computer science major, plan to enter a field of engineering or want to teach science, this minor can be especially helpful.

When you minor in mathematics, you take foundational coursework in calculus and linear algebra and choose from topics such as geometry, applied mathematics and discrete mathematics. You learn to analyze abstract and sophisticated problems and propose creative solutions. These skills are valuable if you are pursuing graduate studies in any discipline or considering professional schools, such as medicine and law.

Program of study

This minor is open to students in the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science. Courses for your minor are only one component of the degree requirements you need to graduate. To see all courses required for the minor, check the program of study in the academic calendar.

Requirements can change from year to year. You will follow the program of study outlined in MacEwan University’s Academic Calendar for the year you declare your major/minor or the year you are accepted into an Honours program.
